The Vilnius City Municipality issued a press release on these changes.

“Povilas’s work to digitize, launch and motivate the municipality to act in a non-bureaucratic way is exceptional. I think all Vilnius residents felt a homely, modern and fast hand. This has not gone unnoticed in the business of hunting for talented executives. I am glad that Vilnius is developing talents, ”the mayor of the city of Vilnius, R.Šimašius, is quoted in it.

According to the mayor, the processes in the administration are stagnant, the deputy directors of the administration know their areas well, so a new head of administration will be sought thoroughly, without haste.

“During all those years, working in the municipal team, first as an advisor to the mayor and then as director of the administration, I managed to do a lot. It is not for me to evaluate my work myself, I always know that Vilnius residents evaluate them better, I let them do it. I thank Remigijus for his trust all these years and I know that the city will continue to be in good hands and the continuity of the work will be assured ”, says P. Poderskis.

The director’s resignation has not yet been approved by the city council.

P. Poderskis became Managing Director at the end of 2017, replacing Alma Vaitkunskienė, who had held this position since the beginning of R. Šimašius’ first term. Until then, he worked as an advisor to the mayor, so together with R.Šimašius he worked in the Vilnius city municipality for six years.

How 15 minutes Podersky himself said he intends to continue his career at Tesonet.

“I had decided to leave for a while, we just made plans, everything came together and I left,” he said, saying that this decision was not unexpected for the heads of the municipality or for him, said P. Poderski.

He claimed that this decision had nothing to do with the pre-trial investigations in which he was recently questioned. “The daily life of an enterprising bureaucrat is a pretrial investigation,” Podersky commented wryly.

In May, it was announced that Director Povilas Poderskis had been questioned by the Financial Crimes Service (FNTT) and granted special witness status.

Then the FNTT collected documents in the Vilnius city municipality about the purchase of lung ventilators. Meanwhile, raids on the premises of UAB Andrikus and the house of its managers, who received money from the municipality but did not deliver the devices.

P. Poderskis promises to work as director of the Vilnius municipality administration until March 10, when he should be fired during the council meeting. According to P. Podersky, it is likely that one of the deputies will temporarily assume the position, who will replace him.

The director of the Vilnius municipal administration has three deputies: Danuta Narbut, Adomas Bužinskas and Marija Vyšniauskaitė, who have recently taken office.
