Commissioner Renatas Požėla said drones were planned to be used over the holiday weekend, in an attempt to control possible car congestion at checkpoints.
“What we plan to do a little differently is to ensure the prevention of potential traffic jams, we plan to use drones and we also plan to plan the work so that we spend part of our time monitoring residents leaving municipal centers, not just those who arrive, “Požėla said.
According to him, checkpoints, which employ both police officers and fellow police officers, have high demands and smart technologies, including mobile phone applications, can be used to function.
“We use and plan to use technological tools, various applications that help to more effectively save and record various infractions,” said the Commissioner General.
The police, he said, also noticed that the abusers were taken to go to work in another municipality.
“We will evaluate such statements with greater precision and care. We reserve the right to call employers in various forms of communication and to verify whether such persons are on urgent business matters,” added R. Požėla.
After the weekend, when the police detained residents who wanted to go to other municipalities, the Interior Ministry proposed to change the quarantine restrictions. One of the ministry’s proposals is to limit the number of people in cars.
