“We have clarified that a spouse can go. We will treat this as an urgent need. (…) All officials have received this information,” Ramūnas Matonis, a representative of the Police Department, told BNS.

On Monday, meanwhile, he said officials have so far assessed such situations individually and made decisions “according to criteria of reasonableness.”

In addition, Matonis said he had no information about the cases in which a spouse would not miss a funeral in another municipality.

According to current legislation, funerals in another municipality are only possible due to the “death of close relatives.” According to the Police Department, these people are considered parents, children, grandparents, grandchildren and siblings under the Civil Code, but not spouses.

However, it is possible to move to another municipality “for other objectively justified reasons of urgency”. The quarantine order does not define what these reasons are.

For her part, the representative of the Minister of Health, Aistė Šuksta, said on Monday that there is no possibility of the spouse leaving, a gap, but officials can follow the point for immediate reasons. In addition, the procedure has been in force since December, but has not “created any obstacles”.
