According to SAM representatives, it is planned to vaccinate doctors working in health institutions. They are followed by employees and patients of medical institutions that provide supportive care and nursing services. These groups should be vaccinated in the first trimester of next year. Other people will be invited to get vaccinated after addressing the priority groups.

Ministry specialists periodically consult with the EC to ensure the proper functioning of the vaccination mechanism. The first shipment of vaccines will be distributed to hospitals in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai and Panevėžys.

The municipalities will be used for the second phase. The directors of their administrations have appointed a coordinator, a municipal doctor or another member of the staff, who will coordinate the process in the area and the personal health establishments that will organize the vaccination of priority groups. SAM experts intend to cooperate with them. The directors of the municipal administrations are also obliged to designate at least one personal medical care institution to organize vaccination. You must be able to vaccinate the population belonging to the priority groups within 5 days (120 hours) of the delivery of the vaccine.

According to J. Grebenkovienė, the priority groups after doctors and patients are people over 65 years of age and people with chronic diseases.

Kaunas has already announced where people could be vaccinated: the former premises of the Kaunas Central Post Office in Laisvės Alley, where up to 1,400 people could be vaccinated per day.
