The shots rang out during the bright day, around 8 pm, near the shopping center, Marijonų street. There were small children very close to the scene of the conflict. A young man was shot during the incident, in need of urgent medical help, Panevėžys County Police report.
A complex and intensive investigation was carried out by officers of the Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board of the Panevėžys County Police Chief Commissariat, during which a search was conducted and objects relevant to the investigation were found. A man suspected of having used a firearm and injured one of the participants in the incident was arrested.
Currently, a pre-trial investigation is underway in accordance with article 135 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 2 d. 7 p. (Serious deterioration of health in a way that endangers the lives of other people). This crime is punishable by two to twelve years in prison.
The pre-trial investigation is led by the Prosecutor of the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
