The eyes are happy, “says an older Palanga resident sitting on a bench by the bridge over the sea on Saturday. A woman who longs for communication opens up: she has nowhere to receive guests, but she’ll be glad if her friends can win another euro when the vacationers meet.

“I can barely turn around this weekend, it doesn’t seem like a quarantine,” said the bakery vendor. When weighing the bag of cookies, he added: Most still prefer to bring treats outside and eat them on the street or by the sea.

Not everyone will be able to open

The staff of the Palanga Tourist Information Center collects information on hotels in the complex. The complete list is available on the Palanga TIC website. Several hotels will open as soon as Monday, and several establishments plan to open over the weekend.

Rasa Kmitienė, head of the Palanga Tourist Information Center, stated that the list is constantly being updated. “Visitors to our website will be able to see which hotels or guest houses are already operating. There are also reservation systems that also show which establishments are already operating. Some are not yet open as they are waiting for the services to be provided. spa, others are carrying out repairs and preparations. It will not be the case that all open at the same time “, he explained 15min.

R. Kmitienė said that throughout the quarantine calls are received from people with questions about when it will be possible to arrive and what the conditions will be. Most callers have already asked about vacations in July and August.

Hotel guide: Mood Optimistic

“We live in an optimistic mood. We expect Lithuanians to drive more. We get several calls. Most book weekends. Guests, especially regulars, support us. He says he misses the trip,” he said. Tomás Vanagas, manager of the Amberton Green Apartments in Palanga. It is true that Lithuanians are even more active. Residents of neighboring countries call and ask about the possibility of arriving later, in July or August.

The first guests of Amberton Green Apartments are already welcome on Monday. Increased traffic is expected starting next Friday. All employees are expected to recover from downtime that day.

“The restaurant conditions must be adjusted: breakfast can be delivered to the room or, if the weather permits, on the terrace. People are more interested in security, they are interested in the measures our hotel takes. This is very important for tourists ”, explained the hotel manager.

Cancellations are replaced by reservations

“Currently, the situation is such that the cancellations we saw at the beginning of the quarantine are being replaced by reservations. In fact, optimism arose when we heard a specific date when we will be able to receive visitors again,” said Ingrida Valaitienė, director of the Palanga Hotel and Restaurant Association.

According to her, since Mother’s Day, more and more people have been walking around the complex: more tourists on the beaches, the terraces of the cafes are filling up.

According to I.Valaitienė, hotel managers will have to adapt to the new rules. “Breakfast will be in a different format. Most likely, they will have to be delivered to the rooms, as not all hotels have terraces where safe distances can be maintained. Some hotels are not in a hurry to open and will wait until it is possible to provide spa and beauty services, “said the interlocutor.

I. Valaitienė, director of the Palanga Hotel and Restaurant Association, noted during communication with her colleagues that most tourists want to stay longer than usual, 5 to 7 days.
