“Dear members of the Fankas family, colleagues, friends, after 26 years, when Fankas has grown to adulthood, unfortunately, we have to close the door. I apologize for not being able to cope with these covidual conditions,” he told his audience.

The Kaunas Sports Club founder claims that it has to close because it was too difficult to prevent the closed club from saving due to the pandemic, and the government allegedly did not provide adequate support so that activities could resume after the quarantine.

“It is a great pity that I had to make the decision to close involuntarily. I really tried, until the last minute, I did not fire any employees, I saved “Fanka” with my personal savings. Unfortunately, there were not enough savings and I did not receive adequate state aid. It is a pity that the Lithuanian government cares less about the health sector ”, A. Michmel described the club’s activities which ended sadly.

He thanked all the club members who visited and played sports during the 26 years. Also the coaches and staff who worked there were spared from the warm words.

“Thank you to all the members down to one, only you were the biggest motivators of Fanko for 26 years. A big thank you to my team of coaches and staff; there have been many of you throughout the 26 years. But I remember you all with the greatest respect and love. There really was everything: anger and disagreement, but we all grew and improved learning from our mistakes. I will not lie when I say that many colleagues have become part of my second family. THANK YOU “, he thanked him in his publication From Facebook.

A. Michmel hopes that in the future it will be possible to return sporting activities to the residents of Kaunas, perhaps somewhat more modestly.

Fankas closes the door looking for a window to open. We are looking for places where we can be more modest, but continue in the same spirit. And that day will come when we meet again in the gym and say “THANK YOU for coming back,” he concluded.

The government imposed restrictions on the activities of sports clubs on November 6 last year, and restrictions were relaxed on March 6, 2021, but currently sports services can only be performed in open spaces with no more than 5 people at the time, with exceptions.
