The toughest race in the world in Saudi Arabia, the Dakar Rally, ended on Friday. After the prologue, 12 speed sections and thousands of kilometers traveled, many athletes reached the finish line.

On Friday, all the athletes who reached the finish line appeared on the podium and were congratulated on the successful end of the rally. They also received medals for reaching the finish line.

This year’s Dakar Rally has been fantastic Arūnas Gelažninkas. He occupied the 21st place in the general classification with the KTM motorcycle, but more importantly, the Lithuanian triumphed in the “singles” category, whose participants did not receive any technical assistance. The Lithuanian overtook his closest rival in the “solo” class by more than an hour.

“I am very happy to have won my Original by Motul category. Greetings to Lithuania again. I did the whole rally very carefully, did not break anything, and after a day I only carried out regular motorcycle inspections,” said A. Gelažninkas.

The rally rookie exceeded all expectations in the ATV class Laisvydas Kancius (Yamaha). He even ranked seventh in the overall standings and became the best newcomer in the class.

Inbank Toyota Gazoo Racing Baltics team members performed best among Lithuanian car teams – Benedict Vanagas and Filipe Palmeiro. They took twelfth place. Next team team – Edvinas Juškauskas and Aisvydas Paliukėnas – reached the finish line of the Dakar in 25th position for the first time.

The entire Inbank Toyota Gazoo Racing Baltics team appeared on the podium at the same time, and B. Vanagas did not miss the opportunity to contact David Caster, Dakar director.

“Please less rocks next year, okay?” Vanags said.
