On the eve of September 1, sad forecasts: contact education without problems can last only half a month

“I think there will be practically no such comprehensive contact education from mid-September, because there will definitely be students who will get sick, who will have to isolate themselves, and by then there will be part hybrids, part remote.” , partly contact education. Of course, everyone wants contact education to be all the time, but life is life, ”said E. Milesin on Delfi TV.

“In my personal opinion, as in a similar time last year, the government will have to make stronger decisions,” he added.

According to E. Milešinas, on the eve of the new school year, teachers are more concerned that the planned contact education will not be “full contact”.

“According to the decision of the operations manager and the recommendations of the ministry, certain things are foreseen that in case of illness or necessary isolation, the student must receive a hybrid training, if there is an opportunity in school. If this is not possible, distance learning will have to be delivered, which means that the teacher will have to teach both face-to-face and, if there is no hybrid way, distance learning will also have to be delivered. This is a double job. I’m no longer talking about hybrid education, which we certainly won’t avoid. The ministry does not even think of additional funds for this, ”said the head of the union.

Part of this would still be contact learning in any case.

At the time, Julius Lukošius, chancellor of the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports (ŠMSM), says that while clearer guidelines for organizing education were published just a week ago, they are similar to what was being done in the spring.

“A week ago the decisions of the operations manager appeared, which established very specific actions on how to guarantee safety in schools. Yes, they were late enough, because we had a lot of expectations and needs from the schools themselves, their leaders, how we could better implement those things, they made suggestions, ”said J. Lukošius.

However, according to a ministry spokesperson, preparations for the new school year began in May, so there is not much confusion.

“Last week many things were made public, because the documents were signed, but the contact with schools and municipalities took a long time and was discussed. It is not an avalanche of questions that we now have before September 1, ”he said.

He stressed that one of the requirements for schools is that they must organize exams, but pointed out that children are not obliged to participate in it.

“The goal is for those who are hostile to see friends who are undergoing regular health checks and who are not getting worse, getting sick or something wrong, and they just realize that it is worth doing because if the situation of the The pandemic worsens, and we will have a high level of evidence, we will be able to say that the classroom is safe and continue with education in contact in any situation ”, explained the chancellor of the ministry.

According to J. Lukošius, even if the pandemic situation deteriorated significantly and stricter restrictions had to be adopted, some students would still be in contact with learning.

“Both preschool, preschool and primary education and graduates will stay in contact from February 1 next year in any case,” said J. Lukošius.

In schools, resistance to tests and vaccines.

At the time, Kęstutis Mikolajūnas, a member of the Parents’ Forum, stated that while the essential questions had been answered, everything was happening in the last few days.

“I sympathize with the school leaders who have to implement the procedures that emerged a few days ago,” said a member of the Parent Forum.

“The essential questions are answered: that the tests are not compulsory, that it is not a condition to attend school. The fact that vaccinations are not required does not provide any benefit to students. And that there will be contact education, which both parents and children look forward to. Those basic things are clear, “he said.

According to K. Mikolajūnas, there are about a fifth of parents who still would not send their children to school if such an opportunity existed. He also pointed out that, as in society, there is no equal treatment of vaccinations and tests in individual schools.

“It just came to our notice then. I hope we can come to an agreement and open schools without problems,” said K. Mikolajūnas on the show “Delfi diena”.
