The municipalities of the city of Panevėžys, Anykščiai, Varėna, Šiauliai, Širvintos, Plungė, Rokiškis, Kupiškis and other districts plan to contribute to the campaign.

The administrations of these municipalities have announced that they will fly the national flags of Belarus on their buildings.

The Varėna District Municipality undertakes to decorate the windows of its administrative building with the colors of this flag, the Širvintos Municipality will illuminate the Rokiškis – Rokiškis Cultural Center, Mansion and Cultural Center building in white-red-white colors.

The angel in the Anykščiai-World Anykštėnai Creative Center chapel will also be illuminated. This sculpture was donated to Anykščiai by the city of Kleck in Belarus on the occasion of the centenary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state.

Although Palanga and Plunge do not have a partner city in Belarus, they have also announced their participation in the solidarity campaign. Palanga Concert Hall has been shining with the colors of the Belarusian national flag since Thursday.

Organizers of the International Solidarity Campaign with Belarus call on the media to announce the campaign, raise Belarusian flags abroad, share photos of the campaign on social media, the special #standwithbelarus standard, and testify to the world, Europe , which supports the Belarusian people. in their fight for democracy and freedom.

“The democratic movement in Belarus is uninterrupted and, despite the expectations of skepticism, the fire of freedom and democratic values ​​in the hearts of Belarusians is increasing and international support for this democratic movement is growing,” said the president. .

The head of state says he will seek to extend European Union sanctions against the Belarusian regime.

“I have raised the issue of support for the democratic movement in the institutions of the European Union and will seek support for the extension of sanctions against the Belarusian regime. This strong nation deserved the opportunity to build a future for its children with its own hands. Lithuania they will go to the end together, “said the president.

On the occasion of the Day of Solidarity with Belarus on Sunday, the Foreign Ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania expressed their support for the people of Belarus.

Since August, the people of Belarus have continued the peaceful struggle for freedom and democracy in their country. For weeks and months, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have admired the courage and determination of these people to pursue fundamental freedoms and to hold free and fair elections.

Unfortunately, the Belarusian authorities responded to the courage of their citizens with brutal and illegal actions. What is sought by such actions is clear: to stifle the voice of peaceful protesters, deprive them of their right to peaceful assembly, and reject their legitimate demand for free and fair elections.

Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania reiterate their call on the Belarusian authorities to immediately and unconditionally release all arbitrarily detained, including political prisoners and members of the media, and to punish the perpetrators of these crimes .
