As the owner of the premises at the beginning of it, J. Janonio str. Rushed drivers stopped: two solid lines appeared in the middle of the street since afternoon, prohibiting passengers from diverting the ring to the left side of the street, where about a dozen different business entities are located.
“We can enter our territory through number 3 of J. Janonio street through two entrances, but through both, two continuous lines. So I would have to drive to the end of the street to be able to turn around and go back to my company. This wouldn’t be a big deal with a car, but with a larger truck at the intersection of J. Janonis and Pramon streets, it’s hard to do. It would be necessary to drive almost to the Free Economic Zone to turn around and return ”, said the businessman.
According to him, several dozen heavy vehicles visit his territory every day.
“People are outraged and usually cross solid lines. If police officers came, they wouldn’t be able to issue tickets. I don’t know what the goal is: to make this street more attractive to businesses and the people who work here, or to have fun ”, J. Janonio st. The owner of the located company.
Screws – every 150 meters
This is not the first time that J. Janonis Street signage has caused a nuisance to residents. Last year, a pedestrian island was installed just before entering the territory of various companies. And the parking lots are marked directly: where there were spots after the rain, the lines were not drawn. Following the outrage of drivers, street markings were clarified and dotted lines were marked at entrances to business premises.
According to Dalius Vadluga, head of the Panev delžys municipality city infrastructure department, this week J. Janonio street has been marked in accordance with all security requirements and in coordination with the relevant institutions: the police and the municipality administration of Panevėžys.
“It is a four-lane street, according to the category assigned to it, the entrances to the territories can only be every 150 meters, where there is the most intense traffic,” explained D. Vadluga.
According to him, it is natural for innovations to cause dissatisfaction, but they are necessary to ensure the safety of all road users.
“It was not unnecessary for two continuous strips to be drawn. Drivers who experience inconvenience as a result must now plan their routes to and from work somewhat differently, ”advised D. Vadluga.
