The Klaipėda County Police Chief Commissariat reports that officials from the Criminal Police Organized Crime Investigation Board (KPONTV) have detained a person suspected of unlawful possession of a large quantity of narcotic drugs (psychotropics) and firearms and ammunition with evidence.
The pre-trial investigation began after receiving information about a possible 46-year-old man who had distributed drugs. A resident of the city of Klaipeda, which investigators say is associated with organized crime. A person who runs an individual taxi business and works for one of the private companies is well known to the port city law enforcement officials.
A man has been convicted several times in the past: for desecration of state symbols, fraud, illegal use of an electronic payment instrument or its data, illegal possession of narcotic (psychotropic) substances for distribution purposes, illegal possession of firearms , ammunition, explosives and other personal documents, insult to official documents.
2021 February. During the investigation, police officers found suspicious narcotic (psychotropic) substances in a hideout in one of the apartment buildings on Klaipėda, Taikos Ave.
Continuing the operation on the same day in Klaipėda, Taikos Ave., KPONTV officials detained said person. During the raids of the man’s residence and car, alleged narcotics (psychotropic), four weapons, ammunition, two electronic scales and more than 6,000 euros were also found.
In total, around 350 g of various types of suspected narcotic (psychotropic) substances were found.
The suspect was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention, after which he was sentenced to the most severe pre-trial detention – arrest, the man was arrested for 3 months.
The pre-trial investigation is organized and led by the Organized Crime and Corruption Investigation Division of the Klaipėda Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The illegal possession of large quantities of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances is punishable by imprisonment of 10 to 15 years.
