“You can say that today’s record unfortunately surpasses yesterday’s. So we will probably have many records in the next period. We see no reason not to reach them,” he commented on the LRT program of the public broadcaster. “Labas rytas, Lietuva”.

The director of NVSC explained that the infection is widespread in society, certain pockets of COVID-19 are on fire and new ones are being found.

The coronavirus was not registered in a single county: Alytus.

“By looking at each case, examining and managing the critical points, it becomes very clear what the prevalence is in society. Today we will announce yesterday’s cases: the coronavirus was not registered in a single county, Alytus, “said R. Lingienė.

According to the NVSC, the virus is spreading faster as we participate in an active social life and return to the premises in cold weather.

COVID-19 is also spreading in educational institutions, but NVSC, according to R.Lingienė, does not encourage mass education.

“We really do not recommend distance learning for all students <...> because it negatively affects children from especially poorer families, if they do not have the necessary means for distance education, they do not understand the content of the lessons, they cannot hire a tutor ”, commented the specialist.

He also emphasized that communication between them, especially for young children, is very important.

“The third moment, distance learning disrupts the rhythm of the day,” added R. Lingienė.

According to data published on the NVSC website, coronavirus cases have been linked to 199 educational institutions. The total number of these cases detected for students or institutional staff is 477.

On Thursday, epidemiologists said they were concerned about the spread of COVID-19 in Vilnius, especially in bars and other entertainment venues. NVSC asked the Municipality of Vilnius City to take action:

  • temporarily restrict active leisure activities indoors, during which the use of respiratory protective equipment cannot be guaranteed (for example, group sports training, dance, singing study activities) and shorten the working hours of the pubs;
  • expand the scope of testing of employees of medical institutions and social care institutions;
  • to provide the opportunity for more intensive testing for youth ages 20-29. age group (PCR tests);
  • conduct specific tests of bar and club staff;
  • promote teleworking.

Povilas Poderskis, director of the Vilnius municipal administration and chairman of the Commission for Emergency Situations, noted that the capital will intensify the testing of the population, as well as strengthen communication by informing people about the obligations to follow safety recommendations. , wearing masks, teleworking, restrictions.
