At Lithuanian airports and seaports, it is checked whether arrivals have completed the required questionnaire and have a QR code confirming it, if they have conducted a survey, random checks are also carried out at the border with Poland, Russia and Belarus.

The aim of such strict measures is to prevent the introduction and spread of dangerous virus mutations in Lithuania, emphasizes the NVSC report.

“It is understandable that everyone is tired of the pandemic and yearns to travel. It is understandable that people have difficulty conducting research in a foreign country. However, the main message that we epidemiologists are sending to all people is to stop traveling unnecessarily. If it is still necessary to travel, let us be prepared to take the mandatory actions, “urges Daiva Razmuvienė, an epidemiologist at NVSC.

According to the NVSC, the majority of travelers arriving in Lithuania through airports present the required documents proving the investigation. Those who arrive without investigation are still registered for the investigation, but at the same time they can be investigated for an administrative offense and fined from five hundred to fifteen hundred euros, as established in the Code of Administrative Offenses.

There are cases of abuse

NVSC specialists also encourage travelers to provide mandatory information about themselves and their previous trip in a responsible and honest manner by completing an electronic questionnaire. The objective of the traveler questionnaire is to monitor and warn foreigners and take timely preventive measures in the event of a coronavirus infection in a traveler.

According to NVSC specialists, the traveler questionnaire also gives visitors the opportunity to obtain a certificate of incapacity to work during the isolation period, to request isolation exceptions. Accidental errors or abuse occur due to the application of isolation exceptions when completing questionnaires. Individuals claim they are covered by the isolation exception, but requesting proof of this justifies the exception being marked in error. NVSC notes that incorrect reports can also lead to administrative liability.

“However, we would like to urge everyone to act in a responsible and civic way. Let’s not forget that new strains of the virus are emerging in the world that spread more quickly. Let’s meet the requirements, because it depends on everyone how long we will live in a life Recently, fewer new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Lithuania. However, if this trend will continue, if we will be able to enjoy liberating conditions, open shops, schools, cultural venues or if we will have to close again at home, it will depend on ourselves ”, says D. Razmuvienė.

It is recalled that the requirements that apply in the destination countries must be consulted beforehand before the trip. In Lithuania, this information is provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the foreign missions in Lithuania.
