NVSC also informed BNS that the letter was based on a staff survey conducted December 14-28.
An electronic survey of 360 employees at the center asked how employees currently feel about how increased workload affects their mental, emotional and physical health.
According to NVSC, the conclusion of the survey is that the employees are exhausted, the condition is bad, but the NVSC did not provide detailed survey data.
B. Bernadišienė stated that the survey was organized by psychologists from the Center for Human Studies and could give more detailed answers “after the holidays”.
At the time, some NVSC employees who did not want to be named BNS on Thursday said they were urged to participate in the survey but were not informed about the open letter and said they only found out from the media.
The work of the NVSC, which conducts epidemiological investigations of coronavirus cases, was criticized by both Health Minister A. Dulkys and Prime Minister I. Šimonytė.

“We do not have weekends, we no longer celebrate holidays. Both the director of the institution and all employees, excluding the working day, have been working in extreme conditions for almost a year. Recently, many specialists have left their work due to a load unbearable work ”, he adds.
The letter states that the NVSC receives “many obstacles” on a daily basis: reports, explanations and data from individual case studies are required.
The letter also indicates that NVSC incumbent Robertas Petraitis has taken steps to streamline and digitize processes since the beginning of his tenure, and has consistently sought the assistance of the Ministry of Health and other government officials.
Among other things, the letter acknowledges that the country’s performance in handling the pandemic is not good, but calls for “all competent authorities” to work together.
