The Ministry of Economy and Innovation urges tour operators not to travel to Romania and Bulgaria, as well as to inform tourists in detail about the risks of traveling to other countries where the coronavirus situation remains difficult.
These and other issues were discussed at a meeting of representatives of the Ministry and the tourism company held on Wednesday, said the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Rimantas Sinkevičius.
“I wanted to warn the organizers of this business that they would also inform clients that it might happen that returning the deceased would be difficult or that they would have to isolate themselves after returning for 14 days. I asked them to attach a memorandum with the travel documents, to remind them once again how to be careful, that is, masks, gloves, distances, and that before leaving everyone would have the opportunity to think if the trip is really so important that then you would have to isolate yourself for two weeks, “said R. Sinkevičius to BNS on Wednesday night.
Minister R. Sinkevičius states that the situation may also deteriorate in other countries, therefore, it is desired to warn future travelers.
“I wanted to point out that in other countries where they are not yet on the list of dangerous countries, such a situation can arise quickly,” the minister explained.
Novadades emphasizes that the safety of travelers is the main priority of the company, therefore, flights to Bulgaria will not be operated from Thursday to July 31.
“The next scheduled return flights will be used to bring back tourists currently on vacation in Bulgaria according to schedule.” For travelers whose planned trips to Bulgaria are not due to the pandemic, we suggest changing their destination to safe Greek resorts, transfer your vacation to later departures or choose an alternative to a travel voucher, “the report says.
The Tour de Tez announced on Wednesday that it would suspend travel to Bulgaria, and the proposed alternative for travelers is Greek resorts. The decision is also provisional: it will take effect from July 9 and will remain in effect until July 31.
“We are canceling trips to Bulgaria to keep our travelers safe,” the company said in a statement.
Milda Plepytė-Rainienė, director of the Lithuanian Tourism Association, said on Wednesday that decisions by tour operators were made so that travelers would experience as little inconvenience as possible. She urged tourists to follow the news from the companies.
“Travelers should monitor the information published by tour operators and / or contact their travel sales agent if they have purchased from a travel agency. If you bought directly from a tour operator, just wait until you contact them and you will be offered other options and alternatives, ”M. Plepytė-Rainienė told BNS.
Charter flights are currently organized from Lithuania to Bulgaria and Greece, and regular flights to Croatia and Cyprus. According to Ms Plepytė-Rainienė, the first flights to Greece and Bulgaria were completely completed.
Starting Thursday, returnees from Romania and Bulgaria, who have been included in the list of countries affected by COVID-19 by the decision of the Minister of Health Aurelius Veryga, will have to isolate themselves. The list of countries affected by COVID-19 also includes the Virgin Islands, Seychelles, Djibouti, San Marino and Swaziland, and Pakistan and the Central African Republic.
The list means that Lithuanian residents and foreigners who have a permit to enter Lithuania must apply for 14 days of self-isolation upon return from the countries mentioned above.
Affected are those countries where the incidence of coronavirus infection in the last 14 days is greater than 25 cases per 100,000. population. A total of 63 countries are now on the list.
The list of the most affected countries is updated to take into account epidemiological indicators in foreign countries.
