North Korean leader wishes Trump recovery

“He expressed his condolences to the president and the first lady of the country,” said a statement from Korea’s central news agency (KCNA).

“He sincerely hopes they recover as soon as possible. He hopes they definitely get over it. He sends them warm wishes,” the agency added.

The South Korean news agency Yonhap, for its part, noted that Kim Jong Un expressed, for the first time, the desire to congratulate a world leader infected by the new coronavirus.

D. Trump reported early Friday that he had been tested for coronavirus infection with COVID-19. Later that day, he was taken by helicopter to a military hospital, where he would continue to be monitored and treated.

D. Trump and Kim Jong Un have met three times since June 2018, although at the beginning of the current US leader’s term, Washington’s relationship with Pyongyang was extremely tense.

However, nothing concrete has been achieved during the Pyongyang denuclearization negotiations. This process has been stalled for several months.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in mid-September that the talks were taking place behind the scenes.

D. briefly presented his close ties to Kim Jong Un as one of his foreign policy achievements.
