Starting March 6, the open spaces can be used for two households or groups of up to 5 people. The same number of people will also be able to organize celebrations.

After a long break, events with no more than two people or a household will be able to return.

Inmates sentenced in prison facilities or remand centers were also quarantined. They will allow meetings of short duration.

Libraries, museums, open outdoor areas

Leisure without a car also becomes freer. From now on, it will be possible to organize outdoor physical activity classes for up to 5 people.

It will also be possible for groups of 5 to visit various nature trails, parks, museums, zoos or outdoor botanical gardens. There is no limit to the number of people in a family.

As of March 6, it is also possible to physically attend to library visitors who miss a new reading during quarantine.

Since March 10 – even more exemptions

The long awaited and passionate release from quarantine due to driving tests is no longer beyond the mountains. As of March 10, driving tests and practical driving lessons will be allowed.

Along with driving tests and classes, non-formal adult education or training in open spaces is allowed from March 10, but a maximum of 5 people can participate.

The current restrictions on movement between municipalities are scheduled for March 15, but Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė assures that the possibility of traveling during Easter will depend on the epidemiological situation.

“The movement restrictions now in force are valid until March 15. If it will be necessary to consider movement restrictions for the Easter holidays, I will not respond now, because much will depend on the epidemiological situation at that time.

Now we are going to propose restrictions from mid-March that are more in line with the epidemiological situation of a particular municipality. That is, in those municipalities where the situation is bad and worst, movement restrictions are more related to them than movements between municipalities, where the epidemiological situation is perhaps quite mediocre, ”I. Šimonyt report told reporters on Wednesday.

Minister of Health: The mutations are alarming

The Minister of Health, Arūnas Dulkys, assures that there is currently concern about the dissemination of the British version of Covid-19. According to the minister, the only way to control the introduction of mutations in Lithuania is to test travelers.

According to the government decision, it is now necessary to come to Lithuania with a negative coronavirus test, it would not be possible to obtain it on arrival. This requirement will apply to arrivals by any means of transport on international routes.

“It makes sense, because it’s about people leaving. But, as you know, the government recently launched a genome monitoring program: genome research. Those studies are yielding results, sadly, perhaps not what we would like. Therefore, we are already seeing varieties of the British mutation in Vilnius, Kaunas, Kėdainiai, Marijampolė, Vilkaviškis, ”he said after the government meeting.

Among other things, he stressed that contacts with neighboring countries were being actively maintained and that most of them were moving towards requiring such prior testing to ensure greater protection of human health.

“We have to admit that not everyone who comes in and signs up for the test and shows us the information that will go, stick to it and go to the mobile points. Then the risk increases. And our Latvian neighbors have been applying a completely analogous procedure since January. So we get closer to our neighbors, because, unfortunately, the mystery of those mutations and predictions in other countries is worrying, so we take additional measures, ”said A. Dulkys.

Masks are mandatory indoors

We remind you that as of February 25, changes to the quarantine related to masks and population movements entered into force.

As of this day, protective masks are not required for residents in open spaces if there are no people around.

Residents can also move freely between all the municipalities in the ring.

Currently, the quarantine lasts until March 31 at 24:00.

Masks cannot be worn in open areas if a distance of at least two meters is maintained between non-family members. The requirements for wearing masks indoors do not change.

In a meeting on Wednesday, the government decided to release the quarantine, allowing two families or two households to communicate in open spaces. No more than five people, excluding family or household members, can gather in open spaces.

The government has also made it possible to increase the availability of services and activities in open spaces for a limited number of people. That is, sports, leisure and entertainment services are allowed in open spaces when they are provided to no more than 5 people at a time, excluding members of two families or two households.
