Telia signed an agreement on the implementation and integration of state cloud services with partners BAIP and Blue Bridge and the Information Society Development Committee on April 15.
Telia for 930 thousand. EUR (excluding VAT) promised to install the state cloud infrastructure, which will consist of two data centers, more than 70 physical servers and other hardware and software within three months. IVPK reserves the right to extend the term for a period of 6 months.
“We will use the latest technologies for the state cloud infrastructure, which will allow easy integration into international cloud solutions in the future and will guarantee the operational development of the platform. The principles of private business efficiency, competencies and accumulated experience will allow the state reduce the costs of managing your IT economy, “says Daniel Karpovič, Head of Business Clients at Telia.
The abandonment of small, worn out, low-power data centers will enable more efficient, reliable, secure and higher-quality IT services to be provided to Lithuanians and the public sector. It will also save taxpayers money as public authorities will no longer have to invest separately in updating and maintaining obsolete equipment.
The IPPC expects migration from the public sector to the new infrastructure to begin later this year.
Last year, Telia designed the state cloud infrastructure IT infrastructure architecture. This work took into account the different needs of organizations and institutions, sensitivity, reliability and the amount of data. The state cloud platform is planned to store petabytes of data, and data backup traffic will reach hundreds of terabytes per hour.
Telia currently operates 6 data centers in Lithuania and has a well-developed communications, IT services and cloud infrastructure.
