And what will happen when a SHOPPING CENTER appears next to this bar? This is an example of how the public interest has been sacrificed for the private one.

It is planned to install a second lane on this state parcel and improve the connection with the Kaunas highway, but a shopping center will appear in its place. It is true that officially the administration of Gariūnai Business Park does not comment on all these things. The Gariūnai market is managed by three companies: Geruda, Posūkis and Jurgena.

According to him, Lidl Lietuva also has a plot of land across Gariūn street next, next to the car market, and he is also planning construction, but the plot is previously for commercial purposes, the flows there are different, so there should be no problems. However, the territory towards the Vilnius-Kaunas highway had to be left to improve transport infrastructure.

See actions against an object

However, Lidl Lietuva claims that the company has only one plot of land and plans to build only one store, off the Vilnius-Kaunas highway.

The Vilnius City Municipality declares that the detailed plan decisions approved by the Vilnius City Council decision on July 9, 1999 provide for an infrastructure territory with possible engineering infrastructure service structures for the terrain.

However, on October 9, 2019, the order of the deputy director of the municipal administration of the city of Vilnius approved the adjustment of the detailed plan, the solutions of which already provide for the land use of commercial objects, possible buildings: administrative, commercial, de services. , catering, garage buildings.

According to Virginijus Pauža, head of the municipal infrastructure department, “according to the available information, the valid detailed plan allows for the construction of a commercial building on the mentioned plot.”

Asked about the road infrastructure, a representative of the municipality said that changes are planned here, but that they have nothing to do with this plot or with the future store in it.

On the road from Minsk to Klaipėda in Vilnius, there have been only two intersections controlled by traffic lights in recent years: at the intersection of Liepkalnio, Žirnių and Minsk highway, and at Gariūnai.

The first intersection is currently being rebuilt and it will soon be possible to drive there in the direction of Minsk without stopping. Therefore, the traffic light on this important artery will remain only near the Gariūnai market.

“Currently, a two-level transportation hub is being prepared on Gariūnų Street, that is, the first stage is being implemented. The distribution of the connecting roads is not covered by this project nor has it been considered. The second stage is a two-level intersection with Kuro Street.

The land is located within the zone, where within a radius of 500 meters the territory is served by a single shopping center (business park-market “Gariūnai”).

It will be possible to enter the territory of the store from Paneriškių street – it will separate the Lidl plot from the Gariūnai market.

“A park is being designed in the eastern part of the plot. In the western part of the plot there is also a green area behind the unloading ramp. The position of the building on the plot was selected in accordance with the indicated entrances, taking into account the convenience of access to the territory. It is planned to park the car in the central and eastern part of the plot ”, says the project.

There will be 125 parking spaces.

“It is proposed to connect with the city’s communications, providing entrances and exits to the plot through Paneriškių str. The planned design solutions: entrances and exits and the flow of traffic generated towards the object of attraction will not have a significant impact on the network of nearby streets, ”say the project organizers.

The store building will be an elongated rectangular floor, the area of ​​the commercial hall will reach approximately 1423.5 square meters.
