“I hesitated to swallow that pain so that no one would see and no one would know. But in the end I want to warn others, ”Renata de Šiauliai told LNK.
Until now, he said he had complete confidence in the doctors. Until his father died in the hospital.
“I lost everything, the most precious person. I lost and nothing will change. Maybe I just want to warn you to take good care of your loved ones,” said the woman.
Renata, who buried her father the day before, had a hard time gathering words, but decided to warn other loved ones.
“Don’t trust as blindly as I did,” he said.
Renata’s 86-year-old father was taken to Šiauliai hospital for the abdomen due to abdominal pain. According to Renata, the father had the stones removed from his ureters and he made a successful recovery.
“It just came to our attention then. And the doctor himself said that his father really wanted to go home,” the woman said.
However, as soon as he started thinking about the house, Renata’s father’s health began to deteriorate. When he called the family, he complained of lack of air. An explanation of what happened to her father by the doctors Renata says she has not listened.
“The nurses didn’t contact us. They went directly to the doctor’s office, which was busy or no one was answering,” Renata said.
Doctors, according to Renata, did not allow her to see her father for a long time. Explaining that quarantine.
“I’ve seen the situation get worse when talking to my dad. And an attempt was made to call the doctors with such a request. When we don’t call with that request anyway, we don’t make it, “the woman said.
Even the hospital did not inform them of their father’s death, although they had his phone number, but the police.
“Not at all. We were informed by a relative,” he told LNK.
The reason Papa Renata died was unexpected.
“I only knew about sepsis from the death certificate. How many were called, how many were asked, such a diagnosis was never mentioned. I think there is negligent work by doctors here,” said Renata.
Although she sees the guilt of the doctors, Renata has no intention of seeking justice. Šiauliai Hospital agreed to comment on the situation in writing.
“The patient was diagnosed and treated with acute inflammation of the pancreas, which was later complicated by pneumonia, intestinal inflammation, possibly sepsis and gallstones with aggravated inflammation. (…) The clinic where the patient was treated is delving into the circumstances related to the treatment of this patient ”, we wrote in the comment of the hospital sent by LNK.
The Health Ministry says that despite the coronavirus in the country, hospitals must allow relatives to visit patients.
“The procedure does not prohibit family members from visiting the patient. The procedure is limited to compliance with infection control requirements. And it is imperative that those who visit must have a Passport of Opportunity, they must be healthy,” said Genovaitė Klimienė, Advisor to the SAM Department of Specialized Health.
This is not the first time a hospital has been accused of negligence. Julius de Joniškis, who was admitted to Šiauliai Hospital due to appendicitis, escaped from him when, according to him, he did not receive adequate treatment.
He was also diagnosed with a condition close to sepsis at the Kaunas clinics.
The Accreditation Service, which controls the quality of services in medical institutions, received 6 complaints about Šiauliai Hospital last year alone. And they were all worth it. Violations of the quality of treatment were identified.
According to the Institute of Hygiene, almost 400 people died of sepsis in Lithuania last year.
