New COVID-19 record: 311 new cases of coronavirus in Lithuania, the virus is spreading in the social care homes of Blinstrubiškės, medical institutions

8,239 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the country. 3,599 people recovered from the illness and 4,483 were ill. 245 patients are treated for COVID-19 in Lithuanian hospitals.

Yesterday 1 case of importation from Poland was confirmed. The circumstances of the infection in 96 individuals are unknown, according to preliminary data. In 44 people, the cases were confirmed after contact with an infected person, but these cases are not classified as outbreaks.

Outbreaks were confirmed in 170 cases

Most of them were confirmed yesterday at the Blinstrubiškės welfare home. Yesterday 20 outbreaks were confirmed in this outbreak. 169 outbreaks have already been linked to this outbreak.

A new outbreak has been registered at the UAB Iremas company in Jonava. Twelve cases were linked to this outbreak yesterday.

5 cases confirmed yesterday are related to the Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital. There are already 35 cases associated with this outbreak.

4 cases are related to the outbreak at the LSMUL Kaunas Clinics Department of Surgery. 20 outbreaks have already been linked to this outbreak.

There are two more deaths from coronavirus in Lithuania

NVSC reports that two coronavirus deaths were recorded in Lithuania, Šiauliai county last day. Currently, the infection has claimed 120 lives.

The first case of death was that the person belonged to the age group of 60 to 69 years and had comorbidities. The coronavirus was confirmed on October 5. During the epidemiological diagnosis it was established that the person was infected by a sick loved one in a family environment.

The second case of death was that the person belonged to the age group 80-89 and presented comorbidities. The coronavirus was confirmed in one person on October 15. The person is assessed to be infected in a family environment.

Public health professionals urge people to follow all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection: hand hygiene, coughing, sneeze etiquette, use of personal protective equipment, physical distance, and more.

245 people are treated in hospitals for COVID-19

In Lithuanian hospitals, 245 people are treated for COVID-19, 21 of them in resuscitation.

According to SAM, 83 patients are being treated with oxygen masks and nine more are undergoing artificial lung ventilation.

120 people died from coronavirus and another 37 people died from other causes.

The Ministry of Health (SAM) has defined criteria that will be relevant to assess the risk of transmission of COVID-19 at the national and regional level and to take preventive measures. They will be approved by the government on Wednesday.

Denmark, Estonia and the Netherlands have introduced new rules for those coming from Lithuania. Compatriots coming to Estonia may not isolate themselves only if they have a negative coronavirus test before entering the country and are working, studying or for other similar purposes. Denmark will admit Lithuanian citizens only for work, business or study reasons. However, the Netherlands has included the city of Šiauliai in the list of territories to which compulsory isolation applies.

On Tuesday, President Gitan Nauseda visited the National Public Health Center (NVSC) and said that the situation was so dire that we should forget about all the other things visited. He said that if the number of cases detected per day doubled, the quarantine would have to be reintroduced.
