New barracks are being opened in the Taurag districtė

“With the return from permanent mandatory initial military service, the faster deployment of military units and the arrival of allied troops to the country, the renewal of the military infrastructure and the creation of a new one are among the main priorities. For us it is important that the soldier is well equipped, has good service, living and living conditions ”, says the Minister of National Defense Raimundas Karoblis.

According to the report of the Ministry of National Defense, during the development of the infrastructure of the Kęstutis Battalion, the construction of the barracks began in 2019. Its construction was completed ahead of schedule: 200 soldiers of the permanent mandatory primary and professional military service were installed in the barracks in the spring. Allied troops will also stay here as needed.

The two-story building has dormitories and an administrative room, and in the future it is planned to build a sports complex here.

A few months ago, the doors of the new barracks were opened in Rukla, on the territory of the Lithuanian regiment Grand Hetman Jonušas Radvila. They are intended for the soldiers of the Duke Vaidotas Mechanized Infantry Battalion of the Iron Wolf Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

More than 400 soldiers live in these three-story barracks. There are also work and training facilities, new military sports and leisure infrastructure.

The headquarters of the Duke Margiris Infantry Battalion stationed in Radviliškis also moved to the new facility this year. About 100 workplaces are installed in modular and mobile buildings.

According to the Ministry of National Defense, investments in two new barracks and the headquarters building amount to 9.4 million. euros.
