President G. Nausėda continues the tradition that has been interrupted for some time on the occasion of State Day to hold receptions at the Presidency. This ancient tradition is designed to unite and honor people who deserve status from different spheres of state life and different regions of Lithuania. This year, State Day coincides with the end of the quarantine, so another additional element of the celebration emerges in relation to the end of the difficult phase of the pandemic.

On the occasion of the State Day, the President invites those who deserve Lithuanian statehood and the strengthening of the country’s reputation to cultural, artistic, scientific, academic, business, government and state institutions, diplomatic bodies, the media, religious communities, non-governmental organizations, eg uniting people with disabilities, representatives of education and training communities. According to tradition, all members of the Seimas are invited to the most important part of the State Day celebrations: the flag-raising ceremony. This year, the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, will also participate, ”said Ridas Jasiulionis, spokesperson for the Presidency.
