A Lithuanian woman was on vacation with her husband at a 5-star hotel on the island of Mamunagau. While the man slept, the woman went diving alone. When the husband woke up, the wives could no longer be found. When TV3 News contacted the missing Lithuanian husband, he says he does not believe his wife drowned.
“She is a very, very good swimmer. Unless a complication could have occurred because she was pregnant. And the third thing I don’t understand is why we can’t find her body. If he drowns, his body would surface, ”says Parmar Gursharanjit Singh, a missing Lithuanian.
Lithuanians were wanted by Maldivian military, police and hotel personnel. Divers were used to assist and the area was explored from the air. Without finding the wife’s body, the husband believes that she may have been kidnapped.
“If it was carried by a flood to another local island and someone took it out, something happened, we don’t know. We have to travel to the islands, knock on the door, search, ask people, show a photo. I have even given a reward of 100,000 if anyone has information about it, ”says Gursharanjit Singh.
Until now, a Lithuanian woman and her husband lived in the United Arab Emirates. The missing woman’s husband, who does business in Dubai and Canada, has been convicted of drug possession and distribution in the past and charged with murder. However, the family of the missing Lithuanian reject the possibility that the woman has simply run away from the man.
“My sister was happy with him, he traveled the world together. She was energetic, active, cheerful, optimistic who loved life very much, so either an accident happened or we hope that some miraculous way will come soon. If something had happened to her husband, she would have told us about her desire to escape from him. The whole family had a great relationship with my sister and we were in constant communication, ”said the missing sister.
The Lithuanian parents asked the Kretinga police for help for their missing daughter.
“We immediately launched a pre-trial investigation into the missing person and immediately announced an international search,” says Arūnas Pužauskas, representative of the Kretinga Police Station.
According to the commission, they are awaiting data from the Maldivian authorities, correspondence is taking place, but they have no further information.
However, local police quoted in foreign press said they had evidence that the Lithuanian drowned in the sea while diving and had no evidence of kidnapping. The woman was missing for almost two weeks.
