“There has been a lengthy and extensive conversation about the seven candidates that the president already met this week and last week, as well as an exchange of ideas about the seven candidates that the president intends to meet,” he told reporters. Presidential spokesman Antanas Bubnelis.

According to him, G. Nausėda expressed his doubts to I. Šimonyte about various candidacies for ministerial positions and it was agreed “that for these candidacies other people who can occupy the position of minister will be sought.”

“Speaking, the president expressed his views on the competencies that these candidates should have,” said Bubnel. According to him, it was agreed that discussions on the Cabinet will continue this week.

Bubnel did not disclose which candidates were unsuitable, but stressed that most of the conversations were about those with whom the president had already met.

I.Šimonytė: inaccuracy has crept in

“I was able to confirm almost everything that the esteemed Antanas said, perhaps an inaccuracy just crept in that today there were no agreements to look for other candidates.” The president’s comments were simply made both about the candidates who were already in the meetings with the president and some comments about those who were not, “I. Šimonytė told reporters after the meeting.

He said he heard comments about the candidates, both those the president had met and those he had not.

“We talk about people from different angles and perspectives,” said the politician.

When asked how many candidates raised doubts, I. Šimonytė cut off: “Don’t be mad, I can’t.”

I. Šimonytė said he did not want to give the names of people who were not suitable for the president.

According to her, it was agreed that the president would continue the meetings, and when he meets with all the candidates, if necessary, there will be meetings with the coalition partners, then there will be decisions for both the coalition and herself.

I. Šimonytė emphasized that “rejected” and “expressed doubts” are different expressions, and doubts can probably be expressed about anyone.

Those observations were of different complexity and, say, of different content

“But taking into account that the meetings still take place later, and comments were made on one or the other candidate and those comments were of different complexity and, let’s say, of different content … This is today, protecting the reputation of the candidates and the very process of formation and government ethics. “I will not name them now,” he said.

According to I.Šimonytė, if any changes are made, those changes will be revealed and explained.

“It is always more difficult than easy to find candidates. There are many people who want, but not so much, but the president is going to close the meeting on Friday and then (…) we will have the opportunity to discuss the final decisions,” he said.

I. Šimonytė assured that the uncertainty about the candidates does not affect the preparation of the Government program.
