Mazepin will not be able to represent Russia in the F-1 championship

Nikita Mazepin and other Russian riders will not be able to compete for the flag of their country in world championships.

On Friday, the Russian Automobile Sports Federation (RAF), a member of the International Automobile Federation (FIA), clarified the impact of the International Sports Arbitration (CAS) decision on motorsports.

CAS confirmed the World Anti-Doping Agency’s decision on the Russian Anti-Doping Agency. True, the duration of restrictions on Russian athletes has been reduced from four years to two.

Depending on the decisions made, Nikita Mazepin and other Russian runners will be prohibited from using their country’s flag, national symbols such as the double-headed eagle, on their clothing. It is true that athletes will be able to wear the colors of the Russian flag.

Athletes may only use the name of the country if it is preceded by the words “neutral athlete”. The use of the words “Russia”, “Russia”, “Russian Automobile Federation” is prohibited.

At FIA sporting events, athletes will also be prohibited from displaying the Russian flag, its historical versions and the name of the country. However, fans will be able to wear Russian flags to sporting events.

Playing the Russian national anthem at FIA sporting events is also prohibited. This will not be possible during the Russian GP.

According to the RAF, the bans apply to athletes competing in world championships: Formula 1, Formula E, WEC, WRC, WRX, and karting championships.
