Maxima employees have been diagnosed with a coronavirus in Klaipeda

On Saturday, October 24, employees of the Maxima X store in Klaipeda were diagnosed with a coronavirus. This employee was last working on October 21. They tested him for COVID-19 on October 24. Representatives of the Maxima retail chain note that they are currently unaware that there are more Maxima X stores in Klaipėda, Naikupės str. 18, workers would experience characteristic symptoms of COVID-19 infection. The interior of the store is completely disinfected.

“A worker diagnosed with COVID-19 is currently being treated at home. During the epidemiological diagnosis, it was found that he may have had close contact with three colleagues who worked in the same Maxima X store. The employees were self-isolated. The COVID-19 infected worker had no close contact with customers. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and, if necessary, we will take the recommended actions ”, says Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The premises of the store where the employee infected with COVID-19 worked have been disinfected, so according to E. Dapkienė, the employees and customers of this Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit this store. “Today, our stores meet extremely strict hygiene requirements: carts, baskets and other surfaces are periodically disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation. Employees are also familiar with additional recommendations to avoid direct contact and maintain a safe distance. We encourage employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, “says E. Dapkienė.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand disinfectant fluids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

Starting Monday, October 26, in one of the twelve municipalities in the country where the quarantine is being introduced, buyers at Maxima stores will be able to receive a disposable mask for free. So far, free face masks have been distributed in Raseiniai, where local quarantine has been introduced. In municipalities where local quarantine has been introduced, the flow of shoppers to Maxima stores is restricted.

“With the rapid rise of COVID-19 in the country, we understand that the coronavirus can affect everyone. We believe that the preventive protective measures we have taken will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it is equally important that each of we feel responsible not only for our own safety, but also for the safety of those around us. Therefore, we invite our customers to be vigilant, to keep a safe distance in stores, not to forget to wear protective masks, to disinfect hands and use free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance ”, says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of Maxima.

A total of 32 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 23 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 818 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. There are currently 33 employee test responses pending.
