“The worker who was diagnosed with coronavirus last visited her work on Monday, October 5, and did not experience any typical symptoms of COVID-19 infection. He underwent a COVID-19 test on October 7, after coughing and fever. The employee did not have close contact with customers, but was possibly in close contact with four colleagues who worked at the same Maxima store. The employees were isolated by themselves. We are consulting with the National Center for Public Health and will take the recommended actions if necessary, “said Ernesta Dapkienė, Director of the Communication and Image Department of the Maxima retail chain.

The premises of the store where the COVID-19 infected employee worked have been further cleaned and disinfected. According to E. Dapkienė, the employees and customers of this Maxima store can feel safe and continue to visit this store.

Also remember that Maxima tents meet stricter hygiene requirements: trolleys, baskets, and other surfaces are regularly disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for tents’ ventilation.

Maxima has special coronavirus insurance for its current and future employees. Employees receive the necessary protective equipment: medical masks or safety shields, gloves, hand sanitizer liquids. Temperature is measured daily for Maxima employees. If employees feel unwell, have symptoms of a cold or the flu, they are asked to stay home.

“As the number of COVID-19 cases in the country increases, we understand that the coronavirus can affect everyone. We believe that the preventive protection measures we have taken will help prevent the spread of COVID-19, but it is equally important that each of us feel responsible not only for our own safety, but also for the safety of those around us. Therefore, we invite our customers to be vigilant, to maintain a safe distance in stores, not to forget to use protective masks, disinfecting hands and wearing free disposable gloves, which can be found at the entrance ”, says E. Dapkienė, Director of the Department of Communication and Image of Maxima.

A total of 23 Maxima workers have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, 16 of whom have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 754 Maxima employees have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently 16 employees are still waiting for a test response, 4 of them are registered for prevention purposes, when Lithuanian municipalities organize preventive examinations.
