Three more employees of the food production workshop in Vilnius have been diagnosed with coronavirus. As more COVID-19 cases have been reported at this Maxima unit, staff are testing COVID-19 prophylactically and only those who have tested negative for coronavirus are working. Most of the workers have already been screened and have not been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection. During the epidemiological diagnosis, four workers were identified who may have been in contact with colleagues infected with coronavirus, but who have been isolated in the past.

The COVID-19 infection was also detected in another employee in Joniškis, where more cases were recorded. Store opening hours are shortened, the flow of buyers is more strictly limited. All employees are prophylactically tested for COVID-19 and only those employees who have tested negative for COVID-19 work and serve customers. In order to reduce the flow of customers, this store temporarily does not provide public services and ticketing services.

Maxima stores and other locations where COVID-19 staff were ill have been completely disinfected. “Today, we meet extremely stringent hygiene requirements: shopping carts, baskets and other miscellaneous surfaces are periodically disinfected, and fresh air circulation is increased for store ventilation.

Employees are informed of additional recommendations to avoid direct contact with each other and to maintain a safe distance. We also encourage our employees to test for COVID-19 for prevention purposes in all municipalities that only organize such tests, ”says E. Dapkienė.

A total of 68 Maxima employees have been diagnosed with COVID-19 infection since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, of whom 25 have fully recovered and returned to work. To date, 1,081 employees of the Maxima retail chain have been investigated for COVID-19. Currently, 56 employee test responses are still pending.
