Propose to limit community events within, redistribute to patients
According to Matul, it is concerning that the number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 is increasing.
“The number of people infected, if they get sick easily and do not fall into the hospital, it is not the worst. (…) However, it is worrying that the occupancy of beds is increasing, deaths are increasing and that the Government and we are already being forced to act here. ‘ Delphi commented the president of SRK.
Therefore, according to him, the wearing of masks should be inside should be mandatory for everyone. According to A. Matulis, several other measures could also be introduced.
“For example, as in some meetings, events (restriction – aut. P.) – perhaps within community events where community activities are discussed, reports are heard, where it is no secret that it is not always timely to check availability of the passport. I think that these events could be temporarily restricted while there is this peak of illness, ”said A. Matulas.
However, the SRK president emphasized that there is no real need to introduce such a strict universal quarantine as it was at the beginning of the year.
“There is an opportunity passport and an opportunity passport that should give people, especially those vaccinated, the right to visit and develop their business so that the economy does not stop. It is especially important to keep children in touch with education, as we see that the psychological situation of society and students is deteriorating.
The same high-level cultural events, theaters, concerts, Chinese too, in my opinion, should keep the passport of opportunity and a mask. Seeing the experience of those waves, we should not give up these things, I think ”, emphasized the parliamentarian.

A. Matulas also pointed out that, according to him, there is no reason to panic, but it is necessary to prepare even more places in hospitals, to review hospitalization procedures.
“I think people who get sick from combat and feel unable to get proper treatment at home should go to bed earlier. Not everyone should be lying in large centers, hospitals, because if there are more patients there, it will not fall on others, they will not receive services.
You should go to bed earlier, but lighter patients should be treated in smaller hospitals. The experience is already there, the equipment is there, the oxygen chambers are there, the generators are basically bought. Redistribute so as not to fill large hospitals, as some patients can be treated effectively in smaller hospitals, “said the politician, explaining that this would help maintain the availability of other services.
The committee chairman also noted that the procedure to facilitate patient access to some specialists during the pandemic period was being discussed.
“Perhaps during this pandemic period, some excessive referrals of family doctors should be abandoned, for example, extending the medication or requesting some kind of consultation. Perhaps at this stage, especially for people with chronic diseases. You have to think about unloading the work of family doctors. (…) And we have to think about this measure ”, added A. Matulas.
Šimonytė: will probably have to re-quarantine
Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė announced in the Seimas on Tuesday that when Lithuania found itself in the black epidemiological zone, it would be necessary to return to the mandatory use of protective masks for everyone inside. This, he said, will likely require a new quarantine.
The government will discuss changes to the rules for wearing masks on Wednesday, which would re-establish the need to wear masks for everyone inside.
“It just came to our attention then. We will talk about this tomorrow. It is very likely that this will be one of the big changes that the Government will propose to introduce. It will probably be necessary to reintroduce the quarantine for that purpose, because according to the emergency situation we cannot impose such requirement, and the recommendations in Lithuania, unlike the Scandinavian countries, are understood as something that is not necessary at all, ”explained the prime minister.
He regretted that the population did not follow the recommendations, which, he said, led to such decisions.
“If we cannot persuade or ask, or otherwise agree with people, to take care of themselves and on their own initiative, then that requirement remains to be established,” said I. Šimonytė.
The head of government did not want to talk about further possible quarantine measures. As a result, he said, the cabinet will meet on Wednesday.
“There should be no unexpected decisions, an informal ministerial discussion is scheduled for tomorrow,” he explained.
