“Now I have a complete picture of what was happening. I’m happy for the officials, their professional work, and the courage to hang those things up. I well remember the pressure that Mr. Sutkus started when I was invited to the Seimas, “R. Masiulis told BNS on Wednesday.

“Mr. Sutkus played the first violin with accusations and then those accusations were taken up by everyone else, and the politicians took over the same thing, in fact, in Sutkus’s words, it all went down,” he added.

Police reported Wednesday that V. Sutkus could intentionally provide biased negative information for a fee to undermine the authority of then-Minister of Transportation and Communications R. Masiulis.

According to the former transport minister, efforts to minimize it were evident.

“Obviously they were visible, there were many negative reports directly and in the press, undermining my authority, as well as their comments, then he participated in the Seimas sessions, at least in the Economic Committee and in several sessions.” I know he was also invited to the parties and said the same thing: all those accusations that something was wrong on the roads, started in Sutkus, “said the former Minister of Transport.

According to the STT, V. Sutkus, in order to undermine R. Masiulis’ authority, business and political reputation, is suspected of attempting to remove R. Masiulis from the post of Minister of Transport and Communications.

“It is obvious that both myself and the head of the Highway Administration Vitalijus Andrejevas were unfavorable due to the principled position and the goal was to get rid of us in every way possible,” said R. Masiulis.

“I lost the post of minister and V. Andrejev will also lose it soon,” he said.

He also added that he was ready to contact the police if necessary, he had not been questioned until now.

“I was not interviewed, but if the services want to know my position from what I have seen, I will certainly testify and say everything,” said the former transport minister.

According to R. Masiulis, this pre-trial investigation is a “pleasant surprise” for him because it “opens his eyes.”

“I would say it is a very pleasant surprise because it opens my eyes to what it was. Although I had a suspicion, in fact, that someone was orchestrating this situation here, that constant attack on me, but, of course, I had no proof.” said the former politician.

He said he had not spoken to the Prime Minister in detail about V. Sutkus’ pressure, and also said that he did not know if the Prime Minister knew of the situation.

“We didn’t talk in detail. By the time I started being attacked, they were leaving me alone,” said R. Masiulis.

He also added that he did not believe that pressure from V. Sutkus should not have influenced President Gitan Nausėda not to appoint his minister.

“The president was the only high-ranking politician who persuaded me to remain a minister, the president wanted me to remain a minister,” said the former transport minister.
