“We want to be happy with the result of the work done: everything was done on time, without taking a single day. The furnished rooms are already waiting for our guests, who we will be able to receive a little later than planned, because all the new hotels in the Marriott network around the world have adjusted opening dates due to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, “says hotel manager Moxy Evelina Šukytė.

The construction of the hotel was carried out by the Mitnija company. The construction site employed more than 250 workers, more than 60 subcontractors and supplier companies at the same time during peak hours, according to a press release.

“One of the biggest challenges was that construction took place in the city center, so we had virtually no construction site or workspace. The logistics of supplying construction equipment, materials and formwork had to be planned with special care. Also, I had to work just a meter from other buildings, including the historic Bank of Lithuania building. However, all the work was done with precision and success, “says Martynas Gricius, project manager for construction company Mitnija.

Kaunas’ growing potential had the biggest impact on the UAB Tala project developer’s decision regarding the hotel’s construction site. According to hotel representatives, the team working on the project has anticipated what kind of hotel concept is needed for an economically growing city, where more and more international companies and tourists are coming.

Kaunas Moxy’s architectural solutions were technologically quite complex. The design work of the building was carried out by the architects office “G. Natkevičius and partners. “The hotel is designed as if part of its floors hung above the ground, like a protruding structure. Another idea of the designers is the curved walls of the building, reminiscent of the architectural heritage of Kaunas. In the monolithic building, Special formwork was used to extract such curvature from the walls.

The interior of the building, created by the architects of R. Čimkus’s studio, will also stand out for its unique aesthetics: much attention and investment was paid to it. The interiors are dominated by decorative concrete, combined with a unique façade that looks like a “combed” plaster. According to M. Gricius, it was a unique masterpiece. Natural materials are embedded in the concrete curves: metal, wood. Leisure areas decorated with graffiti, modern and minimalist furniture, non-standard lighting and other interior details will create the impression of a modern, lively and exclusive hotel.

Modern fully computerized building management systems were also installed inside. The 175 rooms of the hotel have air conditioning, air conditioning, heating parameters controlled individually, so they can be adapted to the needs of each client. This is the first hotel in Kaunas where guests can register, communicate with staff, request additional services, and even access their reserved room with a digital key using the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app.

According to the hotel manager, the planned opening processes are currently underway, representatives from the Marriott network are in constant contact and the market situation is expected to change to open the hotel door to the first guests very quickly.

“We will be able to anticipate and announce the exact opening date as soon as the government eases travel restrictions, so it will depend on the pandemic situation, which we are closely monitoring.” It is very important to us that our guests and employees feel safe and comfortable in our hotel, therefore we will pay full attention and many additional security measures, “says E. Šukytė.

The Moxy building on Maironio street in the center of Kaunas has six floors and occupies 5.7 thousand square meters. kv. Area of meters. The hotel has 31 parking spaces in the underground parking and another 12 spaces in the courtyard of the building, which will be reserved not only for customers but also for city residents. There will also be motorcycle rentals and an outdoor cafeteria.

14 million Tala LT has invested in the construction of the hotel, the smooth management of the hotel will be ensured by the operator Apex Alliance Hotel Management, which currently operates six Hilton and Marriott hotels in Lithuania, Latvia and Romania.
