According to Aušrinė Armonaitė, the leader of the Freedom Party, Marius Skuodis, current Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation, is a politician who defends the values of this party.
“He is ready to implement the priorities of the Freedom Party in the field of transport, to bring the ‘green agenda’ also to transport policy,” says A. Armonaitė in a distributed report.
In his short report, candidate M. Skuodis himself also highlights the green direction and transparency in decision-making.
M. Skuodis from Vilnius, who turned 35 this year, graduated from the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University with a degree in political and European studies. He has a doctorate in social science (political science). He is also a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Since 2018 January M. Skuodis is the Deputy Minister of Economy and Innovation.
Prior to that, he worked at the Bank of Lithuania, the Government Chancellery, the Foundation for State Studies and taught at Vilnius University. Non-partisan, but A. Armonaitė has mentioned that the new candidate for Minister of Transport and Communications will be a “person close to the party.”
The Ministry of Transport and Communications is the responsibility of the Freedom Party according to the ruling coalition agreement.
On Friday, President Gitanas Nausėda rejected the candidacy of Kasparas Adomaitis, a member of the Seimas appointed by the appointed prime minister, for the new ministers of Transport and Communications, as well as the conservative candidate for Minister of Agriculture Dalia Miniataitė.
“By no means do I mean that those candidates were bad or did not understand their roles. Just today, all I can say is that I, as President, cannot take responsibility for achieving your short-term and long-term goals due to a lack of vision, a lack of good knowledge of the key issues in my sector. Therefore, both the Freedom Party, if we talk about the Ministry of Transport, and the National Union, if we talk about the Ministry of Agriculture, should present new candidates in the near future ”, emphasized G. Nausėda.
Prime Minister-designate Ingrida Šimonytė has confirmed that she will present new candidates for vacant ministerial posts to the president. On Monday, G. Nausėda hopes to meet with the newly presented candidates and not sign a decree on the composition of the entire government by Tuesday morning at the latest.
The Constitution provides that the Prime Minister, no later than 15 days after his appointment, shall present to the Seimas the Government formed by him and approved by the President and submit his program for consideration.
I. Šimonytė was appointed Prime Minister on November 25.
The preliminary agenda of the plenary sessions of the Seimas foresees that the program of the eighteenth government will be presented to parliamentarians next week. Its adoption, the oath of office of the members of the Government and the start of the works are scheduled for December 10.
