Mandatory vaccinations for some employees: the government will decide on this on Wednesday

The draft prepared by the Ministry of Health stipulates that mandatory or emergency quarantine vaccination would be mandatory for employees of those professions that will be included in the list prepared by the Government.

Vaccination will not be mandatory when workers cannot vaccinate due to medical contraindications; when workers are infected with a contagious disease; when the availability of vaccines is not guaranteed, a criterion to be set by the Government.

Unvaccinated workers, who will be asked to do so, will not be able to work in contact form. If allowed by the nature of the job, they will be transferred to work remotely, others will be transferred to another workplace in the same workplace.

“If neither of these possibilities exist, [darbuotojas] will be removed from work without payment of salary until the day after vaccination after the expiration of the period specified in the Government’s decision, after which the person is considered to have acquired immunity against a communicable disease, but no longer than the emergency declared by the state and / or quarantine territory, ”says the SAM document.

It is also intended to stipulate that workers who are currently required to test for COVID-19 will no longer have to do so on their own, but on their own.

Periodic COVID-19 testing is mandatory for agents involved in:

  • personal health care services and activities;
  • social services and activities;
  • educational services and activities;
  • entertainment and / or entertainment, cultural, artistic services (organization of events and services for visitors);
  • activities of pharmacists;
  • international freight transport activities;
  • public and passenger transport activities;
  • activities of public administration entities;
  • professional military service;
  • activities related to the management of the massive influx of foreigners, for which a state of emergency has been declared (direct contact with foreigners);
  • activities of employees in manufacturing companies.

There are two exceptions where the state will continue to fund health checks: when vaccine availability is not guaranteed; when a worker cannot be vaccinated due to medical contraindications.

The law is proposed to take effect in 2021. November 1 – Until then, workers who will need to be vaccinated will have enough time to receive at least one dose of the vaccine and gain immunity against COVID-19.
