If a person applies for the benefit after 12 months from the date on which the right to the benefit arises, they will be paid for a maximum of 12 months. For example, if a single person is entitled to a benefit in 2021. in July, but will only apply for appointment in 2022. in September, the benefit will be paid for the period from 2021. September.

Who can apply for the benefit as of July 1?

Single people are defined as people who have never been married, divorced or remarried, as well as people whose spouses have passed away and who have not remarried.

As of July, single people who receive a social assistance old-age pension, a social assistance disability pension or a social pension (except disabled children under 18 years of age) will be able to apply for the single person benefit. The benefit will also be paid to people who have reached retirement age or at least 60 percent. beneficiaries of social assistance benefits for incapacity for work.

As of July, people who receive a social pension or a reduced pension supplement can also apply for the benefit. They are those people who have reached retirement age or have lost 60 or more percent of their ability to work and the old-age or disability (disability) pension they receive is less than 260 euros.

Can widows apply for the benefit of a single person?

Single widows who have not yet been entitled to a widow’s pension may receive single person benefits. For example, widows cannot receive a widow’s pension if the deceased spouse did not have the minimum time of service required to receive a pension, less than 1 year elapsed between the marriage and the death of the spouse, or the person was later declared disabled 5 years. after the death of the spouse.

How to apply?

When applying for the benefit, an application must be submitted to Sodra.
