The Euroleague has announced that Thursday’s match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Chimki Moscow will not be played.

Fines are being issued this season

Israel last week adopted restrictions prohibiting the landing and take-off of planes operating commercial flights. However, according to Sport 5’s Roi Cohen, the Israeli sports ministry was able to demand an exemption on Sunday night allowing private jets to land.

The request was initiated by representatives of the Maccabi team.

However, the aforementioned duel will not yet take place. According to Cohen, the reason for this is that the Chimki club, which is stuck in financial difficulties and tightening its belts, is categorically refusing to travel on a private plane.

The situation was particularly outrageous for Israel’s Sports Ministry, as Chimki’s position was known even before Maccabi approached the Sports Ministry.

Due to the above restrictions, the Euroleague has already postponed Maccabi’s match with Istanbul’s Anadolu Efes.

Maccabi will play the next game at home for just over a month, on March 2. with CSKA Moscow.
