The Netherlands and Belgium have already banned flights from the UK.

“I can say that we are talking to the Prime Minister and the Prime Minister’s team about the smartest ways to deal with this difficult situation. (…) Several options are possible. One of them is the Dutch decision as an example. The second is is to test any input, due to the fact that the inflows are not very high. At the moment, we are also talking to airports, “M. Skuodis told BNS on Sunday.

“The solutions will be in the near future,” he promised.

When asked if it would be worth restricting travel to the UK, the minister commented that the epidemiological situation in Lithuania is one of the worst, so moving to other countries becomes a challenge in itself.

“It must be recognized that depending on the epidemiological situation, Lithuania is currently in practically one of the worst situations in the world, which is probably a challenge for our citizens who want to go to foreign countries for one reason or another – that their entry may be restricted, “said M. Skodis.

According to him, when regulating the situation with the UK, it is necessary to consult with partners in Poland and Riga, otherwise, unilateral decisions by Lithuania, without taking into account connecting flights, may not be beneficial.

“The decisions of the neighbors are also important, because if Lithuania takes unilateral actions one way or another, and unfortunately the problem of connecting flights has no solution, whether they arrive from Riga or from Poland, then those decisions do not allow resolve the situation completely (…) Tomorrow, the prime minister will meet with the prime ministers of the Baltic countries, ”explained M. Skuodis.

As announced, a new, more contagious strain of coronavirus was introduced in the Netherlands and is spreading in the United Kingdom (United Kingdom), which is why Amsterdam has banned all passenger flights from the United Kingdom on Sunday until 1 May. January. Belgium has also announced a temporary ban on flights and trains from the UK.
