According to the agency, Katin is moving to work in the private sector.
He told VŽ that the companies have not yet been named, but that they will turn to a large international technology company to lead the Lithuanian division.
“During six years of working together with the Invest in Lithuania team, we have managed to implement sometimes seemingly unviable projects. I thank the Ministry of Economy and Innovation, the Bank of Lithuania and many other institutions and personalities for their support and courage in finding solutions, when many said “no”, M. Katinas is quoted in the report.
According to him, Lithuania is currently among the three countries that attract the most investment in the European Union and is starting to compete with the strongest players in the league.
“By securing political support and adequate resources, I am confident that the ‘Invest in Lithuania’ team can have a decisive influence on integrating the Lithuanian economy into the elite league of international business,” says the manager that retires.
The institution estimates that during his tenure as CEO of Invest in Lithuania, a record number of foreign direct investment was attracted to Lithuania in six years. A total of 225 projects have been captured, some of which are being carried out by world-renowned companies: AmerisourceBergen, Dana Incorporated, McKesson, Epam Systems.
During this period, the largest production projects were implemented in Lithuania, to which the global companies Continental and Hella contributed.
