About that the party will have an active and strong shadow government, R. Karbauskis, who rejected the mandate of a member of the Seimas, assured him in October, but the formation of such a cabinet of ministers took a long time.

“It just came to our notice then. We just didn’t want to offer this topic to the public for discussion,” Monday 15 minutes commented on politics.

Promises a comprehensive program

But now, according to him, it is expected that both the government’s alternative program and the composition of the shadow cabinet will be presented in February.

We are already coming to an end with the shadow government program.

“We have a meeting right now to discuss the program, we are already coming to an end with the shadow government program. And by February 16, 100 percent. We will present both the program and the shadow government itself. We decided that the date is very symbolic, for the first time in the history of Lithuania there will be a shadow government with a program ”, taught R. Karbauskis.

According to him, the program will be broad, covering all important areas for state governance, it will differ a little from electoral programs LVŽS.

“There will be something analogous to the program of the royal government,” said R. Karbauskis.

According to him, the LVŽS will also introduce shadow ministers to the fourteen ministries.

“There will be a full government”, assured R. Karbauskis and pointed out that not only will members of the Seimas or the LVŽS be among them.

On Monday, R. Karbauskis together with the party’s former Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, presented at a press conference held at Seimas how to manage the COVID-19 situation if he were still in power..

Positions stand out

Politicians did not express high hopes for the joint functioning of the opposition parties – the “peasants”, the Social Democrats and the “workers” – at least in the near future.

The resignation of Gintautas Paluckas as chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party also confused the opportunities to work together.

“It just came to our knowledge then (Social Democratic Party of Lithuania – past aut.) It does not have a president, and will have one in May or when, where it is not completely clear what the value position of that party will be, because some of its members speak as liberals, some – a little more like us, promoters of traditional values, ”said R. Karbauskis.

“The chairman of the Labor Party is very liberal, with his interesting statements on various issues,” he said, summing up by saying that it was impossible to reach an agreement with the opposition.

“Actually, it is impossible to agree on anything and, on the other hand, we do not have that goal,” said the LVŽS assistant.

Actually, it is impossible to agree on anything and, on the other hand, we do not have that goal.

On the other hand, he did not rule out an agreement, although he said that it will only be possible after the election of the Social Democratic president.

“It is not necessary for the parties to agree to a shadow coalition government, but it is possible to agree to an opposition coalition that does not delve into differences of values.

In the last legislature, the Social Democratic and Conservative factions were in a single opposition. They seem to have different values, but they were united by the organization of the opposition’s work, its representation. It’s really worth it and you can agree on these things if, of course, there is a wish from other groups.

So far, we don’t see such an obvious wish. We hope that a concrete intention may emerge in the Social Democrats after the elections. Perhaps one day the Labor Party will form that wish. Then there will be an opposition coalition, ”said R. Karbauskis.

The visions of the three opposition parties to work together are different: the “peasants” would like to see an agreement between the groups, the “workers” would like to see an agreement between the parties, and the Social Democrats see no possibility. to negotiate common goals.
