Professor Kęstutis Petrikonis, Vice Chancellor of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU), says that the Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga has made a number of wise decisions. According to him, it is difficult to assess the minister’s work when no other former or future minister has yet faced the coronavirus situation.

“The minister has done a lot. Another minister can hardly do it in a situation like this. We need to put that other minister in the position of that minister. It is in this place like a basketball team. The season starts, this coach is good. If the results are sometimes bad, they do not necessarily depend on the coach, then the shareholders are considering changing the coach. Although it was good and perhaps rewarded, “said K. Petrikonis after meeting with President Gitanas Nausėda.

President G. Nausėda met with health care experts on Thursday. Professors Vytautas Kasiulevičius, Mindaugas Stankūnas, Edita Sužiedėlienė, Kęstutis Petrikonis and Aurelija Žvirblienė visited the Presidency. At this meeting, G. Nausėda takes the initiative to bring together the best Lithuanian health care experts to analyze, evaluate and provide evidence-based and scientific recommendations to the authorities responsible for handling the COVID-19 virus in Lithuania.

Later on Thursday, the president will discuss the problems caused by the coronavirus remotely in the presence of the European Council.
