“I want to emphasize that even though those people will be able to return, the rules that apply to people living in Lithuania will also apply to them. Any movement to other municipalities is restricted,” Agnė Bilotaitė told reporters in the Seimas on Thursday .

According to her, the government resolution allows her to go to the municipality of her residence.

“The departure of people from abroad to the place where they will live during their visit should be considered as a trip to the municipality of their place of residence,” said the Minister.

“They are returning to the place and they shouldn’t go anywhere else, meet up, visit friends or invite themselves,” he added.

As reported later by the Ministry of the Interior, the municipality of residence of the arrivals is considered to be that in which the place of residence, property, rented home or a specific address in a specific municipality is declared.

According to the ministry, those who come from this municipality are prohibited from going out and close communication is possible only in a home.

According to the Interior Ministry, everyone going to Lithuania must assess the high level of risk of COVID-19 and the complex state of the health care system.

The Interior Minister acknowledged that it is not very possible to control these travelers.

They return to the place and must not go anywhere else, meet, visit friends or invite each other.

According to her, around 1,500 people fly to Lithuania every day.

“It is really not possible to place a policeman next to each person who arrives, a person who travels, I appeal to the conscience of the people. We have a really high level of morbidity, our healthcare system is already breaking down, so let’s be responsible, let’s not go to Lithuania for the moment. Lithuania is currently burning, ”said A.Bilotaitė.

She said officials will not seek to punish people who travel, but first to warn, to appeal to conscience.

Since Wednesday, quarantine conditions have been tightened in Lithuania, movement between municipalities has been unnecessarily banned, separate non-food shops, beauty salons, etc. have been closed.
