The Belarusian portal tut.by reports that this is due to pressure from the Belarusian authorities to reduce the number of diplomats. The number of Lithuanian representatives should decrease from 25 to 14.
“Acceptance of documents for obtaining visas both at the mission and at the visa centers is currently suspended,” states the website of a visa center.

Visa centers are said to be closed Thursday and clients will be contacted in person. It’s true, so far we are only talking about this day.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs 15 minutes reported that due to system updates, the acceptance of applications at visa centers cooperating with the Lithuanian Embassy in Minsk was suspended for one day.
According to the popular Belarusian Telegram channel Nexta, visa issuing centers that issue Schengen visas to Belarusian citizens will open on Friday.
News portal tut.by notes that these centers operate in Grodno and Brest. “The Lithuanian Consulate in Grodno and the cooperating Visa Centers in Belarus accept visa applications,” announces the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The situation with the Polish visa centers is even more complicated: they also stopped working, since 32 of the country’s 50 diplomats already left on Thursday, only two Polish consuls remain in Minsk.
We remind you that the ambassadors of some EU countries, including Lithuania, have already left Minsk.
