Tournament organizers announced on the day of the event that there were changes to the women’s competition schedule.

This is due to the coronavirus.

“The COVID-19 tests were carried out on all the players before the tournament, the test of one of the Lithuanian volleyball players (we cannot mention the last name due to data protection) was positive. According to the instructions and rules of the CEV, in that case that player and his partner will be excluded from the tournament, as well as the players who have trained together will be excluded for security reasons. As a result, the names of Grudzinskaičiai and a couple of other players remained in the tournament, although their tests were negative. The remaining players have met in other pairs and the tournament will continue, “says the Lithuanian Volleyball Federation.

On the eve of the competition, it was announced that a pair of Lithuanian champions Gerda Grudzinskaitė and Ieva Dumbauskaitė had abandoned the battles due to a positive coronavirus test, but in the end the hosts found a solution.

I. Dumbauskaitė remained in the tournament and fights with fellow teammate Karole Virbickaitė.
