The Lithuanians arrived at Mugello on Monday, so for two days they tried to get to know the track as well as possible and discover more speed for each member of the team.

On Tuesday, Ramunas Čapkauskas, a new member of the Šiauliai RD SIGNS team, tested Lamborghini for the first time (others already started with Lambo last year).

However, while Paulis Paškevičius, the karting champion of the Baltic countries and Lithuania, was at the wheel, the technician noticed that “the engine is smoking.” In other words, the engine is exhausted.

“Even before the race, we had suspicions that the engine would have to be replaced soon, according to the planned mileage. Luckily, the engine decided not to qualify or compete. On Wednesday we got a new one from the nearby factory, ”explained team leader Eugenijus Andrulis.

Difficult and fast route

“In fact, the park of participants is very serious, evaluating both the equipment and the participants themselves. Many GT 3 cars, the teams are much more serious in every way: both in terms of general preparation and aesthetics. The mood of the teams is good. Our main goal is to finish, but of course we are speeding up a bit, the pace is getting more stable and really good. Of course, it all depends on the track. If it’s hot, the pace slows, if it’s colder but the sun is shining, the pace is better. Today we are dedicated to the final preparation of the equipment so as not to cause any problems. The track requires integrity, avoiding sudden stops and severe maneuvers, ”Ignas Gelžinis said about the first days on the track.

In addition to learning the turns of the track, team athletes should not forget about other faster and slower participants around them – up to 42 teams are preparing for the start of the race, after all.
