According to the Government, Lithuania and the European Commission (EC) signed an agreement on June 18 of this year authorizing the Commission to conclude a preliminary purchase agreement with the vaccine manufacturers on behalf of the Member States, with the participation of Member states.

This agreement has been signed by all EU Member States and has pledged not to individually negotiate or compete with producers.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), there are currently more than 20 possible COVID-19 vaccines in clinical trials.
