“We have a request from the European Commission to show solidarity and temporarily provide vaccines to Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, based on the current extremely epidemiological situation and high mortality in these countries,” said Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys.

According to him, each of these countries is asking them to allocate 100,000. additional doses of vaccines, and if this number is distributed proportionally to all the countries of the European Union, “Lithuania would have to contribute less than two thousand doses here.”

As the Minister pointed out, with such a decision, these doses of vaccines would simply arrive in Lithuania a few weeks later than planned.

“1000. 860 doses of vaccine would be delivered at a slightly later date, but in the same quarter. For Lithuania, the quantities do not change, just a few weeks later,” said A. Dulkys.

Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė noted that Lithuania is providing vaccines that have not yet been received: “We will delay the receipt of some deadlines to help some countries, but the amounts will remain the same.”
