“We are still talking with our Baltic colleagues. We know that Estonia has already adopted an increase from this figure to 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. We also have support for such a decision. We will apply this indicator from Monday,” said A. Veryga .

Starting next week, countries affected by the coronavirus will be considered those where the incidence in two weeks exceeds 25 cases per 100,000. population, instead of 16 cases as before, announced the Minister of Health, Aurelius Veryga.

“As of Monday, we will apply this indicator, which means that today, when approving the list of affected countries, the indicator will no longer be considered in 16 cases per 100,000. population, but to countries that will exceed 25 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, “said the minister at a press conference.

According to him, Estonia has also made that decision and negotiations with Latvia on this are still ongoing.

In addition, according to A. Veryga, the indicator of the affected municipalities will change.

“It just came to our attention then. Also from September 15,” said the head of SAM.

Warned travelers

A. Veryga pointed out that, unfortunately, but not in all cases, travelers behave responsibly and refuse to fill in and submit data.

“Decisions have been made that will oblige all carriers to ensure that passengers arriving in Lithuania by any means of transport should check whether the passenger has filled out the mandatory form before getting into the vehicle, be it a bus or plane. When completed, a QR code will be generated. After verifying, you will be able to see if it is really the person who got into the vehicle. And it will be possible to search for cheats. These data will automatically enter the NVSC database. It will be more effective to control who they are obliged to isolate themselves, ”said the Minister.

It was less than 3 percent. populations

A population study conducted in Lithuania showed that the incidence of coronavirus was just under 3%. populations. It is true that the incidence of the coronavirus has increased recently. On Friday alone, 44 new cases of COVID-19 infection were reported.

When asked by the minister if the population survey had not been conducted too late, Mr Veryga replied that ideally the survey should have been conducted when the number of cases had decreased.

“Now everything overlaps a bit with that new wave, but that second wave apparently couldn’t have had much of an impact on the study because we see what happened during the first wave. I really don’t think it is too late, “said the minister.

18 children are sick

According to data from Friday morning, 25 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in 21 Lithuanian educational institutions.

“There are 18 sick children, 2 of them of preschool age. There are also 4 people involved in the educational process and 3 people who are not involved in the educational process. Of the 21 educational institutions, 393 people are currently isolated. I would just like to emphasize once again that the outbreaks are not yet spreading in schools, because there are isolated cases. All the children who are sick and the teachers had previous contacts, that is, contacts in celebrations or other institutions, ”said D. Razmuvienė.
