Lithuania COVID-19 registration: 766 new coronavirus cases, larger outbreaks, in Plungė district, Kuršėnai and Klaipėda hospitals

A total of 10,949 COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country. 4,166 people recovered from the disease and 6,600 fell ill.

Of the 766 cases, 468 cases have not been investigated. Of the 298 cases investigated yesterday, the largest outbreaks were in Plungė d. sav. in a hospital outbreak where 17 cases were confirmed. 9 cases were confirmed in the Kuršėnai hospital outbreak. Additionally, 9 cases were confirmed in the Klaipeda Republican Hospital outbreak.

In Kaunas County, a case of death of a person who belonged to the age group 60-70 years and had other comorbidities was recorded. During the epidemiological diagnosis of the outbreak, it was established that the case is related to the outbreak of the Department of Neurosurgery of the Kaunas Clinics of LSMU.

Today a report was received that on October 16. A Telšiai County resident in the 50-60 age group died. The person had other comorbidities. The person may have been infected in the family.

In addition, one death for other reasons was recorded in Vilnius County. The person belonged to the age group of 50 to 60 years.

For their part, public health professionals urge people to follow all measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection: hand hygiene, coughing, sneeze etiquette, use of personal protective equipment, physical distance and more. .

322 people are treated in hospitals for COVID-19

According to SAM, 322 patients with confirmed COVID19 infection are treated in Lithuanian hospitals. 31 of them in resuscitation.

119 patients are being treated with oxygen masks and another 15 are undergoing artificial lung ventilation.

Of almost 17,1 thousand. more than 10,000 of all hospital beds are currently occupied. Resuscitation beds are occupied by just over half: 331 of the 651 existing.

Of the 590 beds with artificial pulmonary ventilation, 207 are occupied, of the 6 thousand. 1.7 thousand beds were occupied with oxygen.

136 people died from coronavirus in Lithuania, and another 47 people died from other causes.

A record number of new coronavirus cases were recorded over the weekend, for a total of 1,077 cases.

From Monday, due to the spread of the coronavirus, the opening hours of bars, restaurants and nightclubs will be restricted throughout Lithuania until midnight, its visitors will need to register and other restrictions will be introduced. Two-week quarantine is also being introduced in 12 municipalities.

Health Minister Aurelijus Veryga said it would be considered whether to announce the quarantine in the big cities: Vilnius and Kaunas.

A new list of affected countries based on the traffic light principle will also come into force on Monday, the Health Ministry announced. At the same time, isolation rules are changing and there will be more exceptions when even returning from coronavirus-affected countries will not require mandatory quarantine. Traveling will be a little easier.
