There is not enough scientific evidence in healthy people, but there is growing research that wearing a mask in society helps control coronavirus infection, as there are a number of asymptomatic cases. But I would like to make it very clear that a mask will not be adequate protection, it must be observed along with other requirements: the label to wear it and remove it, “said the epidemiologist.

She said that the mask should be worn during the specified period, they should be changed frequently and hands cleaned.

“Social distance is also very important. There is only one tool that is absolutely effective: social distance when you are alone. But this is humor,” R. Lingienė told reporters.

According to R. Lingienė, the second wave has not started, because the first has not yet ended, allowing you to say that the largest increase, the first wave was from mid-March to mid-April. At that time, the spread of infection was not controlled.

“Now, due to certain imported cases and family vacations, we see spikes, but they are not so dramatic,” R. Lingienė assessed the situation.

“The second wave can start when the situation is controlled by the first wave,” explained the expert.
